Genesis and objectives
A new place to promote and a public increasingly becoming home led to the creation of a cultural service in June 1992. The art of our century for many remains difficult to access due to lack of awareness. Therefore raising public awareness of contemporary art is a strong function of the museum.
For young people, the proposed activities are primarily directed, not knowledge, but the sensitivity, usually sacrificed and yet important aspect when it comes to art (that is to say, the transmission an emotion) and in the case of children whose sensitivity is essential to understanding fashion world. The museum is thus a place of awakening that reveals painting, sculpture, photography, looking to know and invent from this incentive modes of original expression.
Animations visits in the form of dialogue are available for groups of all ages.
Artistic workshops where material handling offer at all, another way of thinking.
Outside activites
2009 ushered in a new form of involvement in the commitment Carré d’Art-Museum with public prevented, namely the intervention of leaders within the women’s quarters of the house arrest of Nîmes. Since 2012, the experiment was repeated and reinforced by other sessions in the area of men and women.
We set up in January 2011, the possibility for specific institutions (social, medical and educational) that regularly come to Carré d’Art to subscribe to an annual subscription, or 3 sessions in order to benefit from special rates.
We also have plans to organize in connection with the CHU Nîmes Hospital Carrémeau workshops in child psychiatry and geriatrics.
